We just crossed the Pecos river so we are close to our RV park.

In it’s day the Pecos was a formidable river. They say it was sixty to ninety feet wide and six to ten feet deep having strong currents. It was known as the graveyard of the west due to the loss of life attempting to ford it.

We arrived at Red Barn RV Park, a small but very nice park.

We’ll go to Roswell tomorrow. We had a nice ride today only a few hours on the road and plenty of time to get setup and still relax.
Be assured, we plan on being vigilant, you never know when there will be another landing or abduction. The original crash site is only eighty six miles away.

Time to do some alien research.

There is a lot of pictures and references to the past but no current sighting. Are they gone or did they learn how to assimilate? We might never know.

Oil change, grocery store, shopping then lunch. Time to play or more research?

Legends tell of objects disappearing in the lakes, only to reappear later in the Carlsbad Caverns or the Gulf of Mexico. Others warn of strong underwater currents that pull down swimmers, never to be seen again. There are some who tell stories about a giant turtle monster who patrols the bottom of the lake. The place was given the ominous name of “Bottomless lake” even though it’s not true. The blue-green color given off by underwater plant life gives the sinkhole there appearance of depth even though their actual depth is from seventeen to ninety feet. Most of these stories are before the incident of fourty seven. Could these sink holes have been created by aliens wanting to establish a post on our planet only quitting after the limestone failed due to the high content of gypsum and salt being dissolved by water movement in the area that they initiated? Are they still here? Could they have been successful in other areas? For now they are a lot of small lakes for us to enjoy and you can swim in only one. From the depth of some of the lakes be prepared for cold water. Hiking trails, places for picnics, makes this a nice stop even though it is rustic camping. There are public lands in the area just be sure to practice Leave No Trace and always, watch the sky.

Between the park and public lands this is a great place to explore. If we come back, we will stay at more places like this and do more in depth research.

We are headed towards Albuquerque (228m) with a side trip to an alien crash site. Not far out of our way and since the BLM dirt roads are well maintained it should be an easy ride.
We didn’t see anything out of the ordinary but it was a nice detour.
We were on highway fourty two and watched a storm move through the area parallel to us with a few chiindii but nothing to worry about. All the old two lane highways we were on today provided a very scenic and relaxing journey.

Chiindii or Dust Devils: in the center of this picture
The Navajo refer to them as chiindii, ghosts or spirits of dead Navajos. If a chindi spins clockwise, it is said to be a good spirit; if it spins counterclockwise, it is said to be a bad spirit.
Which way will you spin?
We also stopped at a rest area and relaxed a while.

We’re at our new address for the week. American RV Resort Albuquerque NM.Very nice park.

we have stopped a few places
