Chasing Our Dreams, Indiana

By

I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue writing and I am not sure what will come next but I wanted to tell what has happened.
White River Campground is a real nice park. Full hookups, cement pads and on the river.

With it being outside Indianapolis and a bit of a ride to get anywhere it is a scenic and relaxing area.

We were leaving town and headed west when Carol noticed that a house she was looking at had a basement and we decided to stay long enough to look at it. We called our realtor and he set it up.
We liked the house but it was overpriced, so we made them an offer and they accepted. We will stay in town until after the inspection and then we are leaving until the closing in August.
Michigan here we come, I hope. We’re not sure how long we’ll stay, that depends on the smoke.

An extremely unusual event is taking place. We haven’t been in a thunderstorm for a couple years.
Spending so much time in the south and west, it has been a while. I would describe it as beautiful, interesting and creating a sense of unease. This seems to be a frequent event in Indiana this year.

It’s so fitting that we had a thunderstorm on the day of our home inspection.
When we went through the house it was really dirty. In addition to that there is so much wrong with it that we are going to back out of the deal. Poorly maintained and there is a lot of mold in the air and Radon gas.
We stand to lose some money but still better than buying it.
Every time I have anything to do with this state, it sucks the life out of me. There are no RV parks to talk about and we have been moving every couple days because the ones we have are booked. Constant road construction on the same roads and they aren’t any better than they were.

We have requested that the owners not only correct the mold and Radon problems but to correct the problems contributing to the mold and the amount of Radon in the house.
The owners committed to correcting only what was necessary so we were able to back out of the contract and get the funds in  our escrow account returned.
We really liked the house but it was designed poorly and the people that currently lived in it were extremely dirty people.
While we were in Indianapolis, we met some people from Australia running a series of USAC sprint races and after that they are going to spend the rest of the summer with friends in Texas and running around the country. Really nice people, I wish we could have gotten to know them better.
We finally left to go to Michigan, and when we got to Decatur Illinois there was a lot of smoke in the area and Indiana was going to be bad too so we decided not to go to Michigan. We decided to go to Galveston TX for a month. On our way south to Memphis we spent the night at a nice KOA but they are expensive, too expensive.
Since we were going to be in Memphis I decided to go to Central BBQ and get some ribs and brisket with a side of beans.

Central BBQ

A slab of Ribbs, a pound of Brisket and some barbecued beans.

This was the small room

Patiently waiting for my order.

Life is good, ya just can’t ask for more!

I love Memphis, the Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll capitol of the world not to mention the Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival. I hope to do a return trip.
The roads in this country are terrible, we should spend our money on good mass transportation systems like Europe. Our planet would appreciate it even if we weren’t smart enough too.
The mapping system on my Android phone did it again. We used it for a short section of our trip and it pulled a Google (screwed up). We were on a road that wasn’t much better than the Oregon Trail so we ended up finding an alternate route instead of spending three hours on the trail.

A nice ride for a Sunday Afternoon but a terrible route for traveling

We are at Galveston Port Bolivar waiting for the ferry.

One day and two hours early, we are here, Stella Mare RV Resort (1248m) and I am looking at the Golf of America. Jamaica Beach hasn’t changed and the Roadhouse is open.

I Love This bar

Life is good. I had to go to Jamaica Beach grocery for ice-cream and toppings, a celebration dinner (the whole meal).

We are still recovering from the trip south. A long ride with little sleep.
We spent some time recovering/tailgating on the beach. We wait until just before sunset so it was cool enough for Buddy. The beach was crowded with people grilling dinner, fishing, swimming and just walking the beach. Reminds me of a song “Saturday in the Park”
We have had rain the last few days and I hope we get more. I would like to wash the front of the trailer and awning.

We had a real nice thunderstorm this morning but it ended sooner then I wanted. I think we’ll head to the East end of the island and watch the boats enter the harbor.

With the heat, this could be a long boring month. If we run out of things to do here we will have to go to Houston.
We leave here on September fourth and have a few days scheduled in Memphis before returning to Indianapolis for some appointments. If we haven’t found a house by then we will likely rent a condo for a few months while we look. I believe that this will be our final destination and our remaining schedule will be…
